What is John McCain thinking? He is just trying to throw the election. I am nearly 70 years old and a life time, still registered, Republican. With the right choice of VP, I think McCain had a good chance of upsetting the Obama freight train. Now, I think McCain is not only getting old (72 today) but senile. Why would he chose someone so inexperienced when one of the big concerns about him being President is if his health will last through one term. Now he chooses the Governor of Alaska, a state with about 670,000 total population. Indianapolis, Indiana, has 100,000 more people than the entire state of Alaska. So, McCain picking Governor Sarah Palin is like picking the Mayor of a city smaller than Indianapolis as his V-P running mate. It makes no sense particularly since she has been Governor for about 2 years. She has no track record. She has even less experience on the national scene than does Barack Obama. It appears to me that McCain just tanked himself. What a dope.
So, we have Sarah. Let’s see: five children, nothing to brag about in this world already over populated. Let’s see: wants to dictate to all other women whether or not they have a right to an abortion or not. Let’s see: was a high school basketball player; big deal. Let’s see: was runner up in the Miss Alaska contest; now there is a credential for sure. Let’s see: was a city council woman; OK I have seen some real duds in that capacity. Let’s see: been charged with trying to influence the authorities about the continued employment of a State Trooper that was in a custody battle with her sister; there is a good one. Let’s see: likes to kill moose; how nice (and I have no bones to pick with hunters really). Let’s see: ……. I cannot think of anything else since she has never hardly been out of the state of Alaska. She should fit really well with Washington DC and the millions that live in cities larger in population than her whole state. Oh….. let’s see: she brings with her a large number of electoral votes, right.
What a joke. As a Republican my whole life and a publisher of a daily newspaper for part of that time, I have been thoroughly disgusted and angry with the GOP the past eight years. My hope was that things would change. Now I have no hope at all. Guess I will may be among those who stay home; something I have never ever done before.
