The USA is a country of laws. The USA was formed around a collection of States. Each state has a set of laws governing life in that state. The people of Arizona have chosen to do something about the flood of illegal aliens coming across the border from Mexico. I applaud them. I hope other states follow their lead. President Barak Obama and his collegues in Congress have chosen to do nothing about illegal immigration. So be it. Let the voice of the people be heard as it was in Arizona.
Now there has been outrage from the Hispanic community and from many Democrats. We know what the Democrats want: more voters for them. The Hispanic community is crying foul and claiming the new law is a violation of civil rights. I am having a great deal of difficulty understanding what civil rights illegal aliens have except to be escorted back to the border.
The allowing of persons into this country “just because” won’t get it. There are thousands who do the right thing and get in line for consideration for citizenship in the USA. Barging in is not fair in any way to those who do it the legal way. It cannot stand. And just because someone has not been detected before and has been here for years is no excuse. Having violated the law, they are no better than any fugitive on the run.
Another issue to be determined is the situation of “anchor babies”. Logically, a baby born in the USA who is the child of illegal aliens no more deserves US citizenship than do the parents. It should not be granted.
So, now the police in Arizona are to check the citizenship status of individuals in certain circumstances. I say “Hallalooya”. It is about time. All the hoopla about racial profiling is ridiculous. Let the police check everyone as far as I am concerned. If one is a US citizen, there should be no reluctance to prove so. This is the only way to weed out those who have no legal right to be in this country what ever race, color, religion, ethnicity, or whatever they are.
